Archives for February 2001
By Comparison
Erin and I had dinner with Tom Hipschen yesterday. He’s the engraver who did the plates for the new $100, $50, and $20 bills issued by the Treasury.
Even though I love my job …. it sucks.
What’s Up Doc
I’ve been busy lately but I’ll bring you up to speed:
- Erin and I found a reception site for the wedding.
- Been working on several web projects lately
- My band (Spontaneous Order) went into the studio. Expect MP3s within the week.
- Been reading a bit about R. Buckminster Fuller lately. Very fascinating man. I think I need to read a few of his books.
- Erin and I are picking up a sister for Basie tomorrow at the shelter. Her name will be Billie, which is quite an improvement over her shelter name, Triscuit.
Premium Cat Food
I’ve discovered that my cat Basie loves the gravy from Swanson’s chicken pot pies. Today he jumped up onto my lap to get at the plate. He had better watch out, or else we’ll make a bonsai kitten out of him. ;-)
Erin and I are going to get him a brother/sister tomorrow night. I’m very excited. Soon I’ll have 2 cats.
Thetans ‘R’ Us
I live right down the street from the “Founding Church” of the Cult of L. Ron Hubbard (Scientology). I’m planning on going in there this week to mess with them. I’ll be asking them about Clams.
There’s a site a found last week that seems to be a “Geocities” for Scientologists. It’s at http://www.our-home.org. The funny thing is that all the member pages look the same. Funny on so many levels.
Admitted? She Should Be Committed
I just found out my friend Stacy was admitted to Harvard Law. Way to go Stacy.
Danger Will Robinson
I had to get rid of the Peace Lilly in my apartment. I caught Basie chewing on a leaf so I looked the plant up on the Internet:
- “Especially Dangerous and can be Fatal”
- Gastrointestinal - Signs: Vomiting, diarrhea
- Kidney/Organ Failure - Signs: Increased drinking, non-appetite, weight loss
- Respiratory - Signs: Coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing
- severe mouth swelling
Oh well, I’m more attached to my cat’s kidneys than I was to that plant anyway.
Started banjo lessons yesterday with Ira Gitlin. Looks like I’m going to have to break some bad right hand habits on my rolls. DOH!
